As I slid my pants back on, I watched and listened to the waves. I felt so alive at that moment. Simon was wonderful. I suddenly felt like I could do anything I put my mind to. Just like my father would always say. Simon came up behind me and put his arms around me. "I better get you home. It's a bit chilly out." He said. "Okay." I said smiling. He took my hand and helped me up. He walked me to my apartment and went home. I started to make a list of the many things that I felt were important for me to do with my life. I found myself noting things that surprised even me. I had to find out if there was any possible way to figure out who the father would have been of my child. I decided I would make a few calls first thing in the morning. I didn't care how much the procedure would cost. I just had to know. I knew they had ran some tests to figure out the main cause of the miscarriage, so I figured there was a good chance that they would have dna to run the paternity test. I went to bed and slept better than I had in a long time. I woke up the next morning and took a long bath. I pictured Will as a father, then Travis and Mike. I laughed as I pictured Will trying to change a diaper. I saw him with a clothes pin clamped to his nose and continuously telling me the next poopy diaper was all me. I knew in my heart that Travis and Will would both make excellent fathers some day. I wasn't sure about Mike. He was such a kid himself. I wondered if that would be a good thing or a bad thing. I stepped out of the bath and wrapped a towel around me. I sat down on the kitchen counter and made a few calls. I kept getting redirected to hospitals and doctors. I finally found out that it was possible for the test to be ran as long as it was done by the end of the month. That meant I had a week and a half. I made an apointment for myself. I was lucky to be squeezed in that day. They gave me packets with some paperwork to fill out. I went to the post office and sent them out to all the guys in my life. I knew they were all possibilities. I sent them through one day air mail and asked them to do the same. There was a list of doctors they could go to in their towns. I took a deep breath as I watched the packages get thrown into the outgoing mail bin. I walked out of the post office slowly. I was happy with my decision. It was important for me to find out. I wanted the father to know too. I went back to my apartment and layed down. I turned on the tv and an episode of the Golden Girls was on. I remembered watching that with my Mom every day before dinner. After a few hours, I fell asleep. I woke up about an hour later to knocking on my door. I sat up and yawned. I made my way to the door and opened it. It was Connie. She let herself in smiling. "I'm the messenger today I guess." She said. "Simon is surfing all day. The guys took a trip. It was a last minute thing." "Oh cool." I said smiling. "So, what's up?" She asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "You havn't done anything today?" She asked. "I went to the doctor." I said. "I'm finding out who the father of my baby would have been." "Really?" She asked. She smiled. "I would have wanted to know too." "Yeah. And don't worry, it won't change anything with me and Simon." I said. She smiled. "I know. I can tell you really like him anyway." She nudged me in the arm with her elbow smiling. I sighed. "Yeah I do. I didn't think I would meet someone special so soon either. It's really exciting." I said. "What do you say we go get some nice tans?" She asked. "Sounds like fun." I said. She left and met me at the beach a while later. We layed out and people watched for about an hour. Then we hit up all the shops along the shore. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards, we both went home and took showers. She came back over to my apartment later with some movies and games. I spent the next day with her too. I wanted someone to be there with me when I received the call from the doctor. When I got the call, it made me tear up. "Aww sweetie." She said hugging me. "So, are you gonna tell me?" She asked. "A very good friend of mine that I have known forever." I said smiling. "Will." "Tell me all about him." She said as she sat down behind me and started to style my hair.
