"MOMMY, MOMMY, MOMMY!" I heard the little boy yell as he ran to his mother on the beach. He had been playing at the edge of the water.
"Look what I caught!" He yelled, and held up a small fish. His mother screamed.
"Put that back right now!" She scolded. He pouted and walked back to the water and threw it back in. I was sitting on some rocks up on the beach and observing people. I did that a lot. I had the paper out looking for jobs, but I couldn't find anything. I still had plenty of money, and was going to have even more once Travis bought my share of the bar. I felt like I needed to be doing something though. I set the paper down, and put a rock on top of it to keep the wind from blowing it away. I sighed and started picking up small pebbles and throwing them into the ocean.
"Why do you look so depressed, beautiful?" I heard someone ask.
"Oh, hi." I said looking up. Simon was standing behind me in his swim trunks and holding his body board.
"What are you doing out here by yourself today?" He asked. We hadn't seen each other for a few days, so it felt kind of funny running into him.
"I was looking for a job, and enjoying the weather." I told him.
"Ah, I see. How are you doing?" He asked me. I just shrugged. Do you want to talk?" He asked, sitting down next to me.
"I guess I'm still getting over the baby." I said, watching the little boy run around the beach and annoy is mother. Simon put his arm around me.
"It'll take time." He said, and kissed my cheek.
"I know. I think it would have been a boy." I told him.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'm positive." I told him, and he squeezed my shoulder.
"What would you have named him?" He asked.
"Samuel." I said.
"That was fast." He told me.
"I've always liked that name." I told him.
"I like it too." He said.
"Thank you." I told him.
"Can I ask you something?" He asked me.
"Yeah." I told him.
"I know you want to take things slow, and I understand that. But I don't understand why we can't date or anything. I mean, we both care about each other." He said.
"I don't want to screw anything up. I mean, between us. I do like you, but what if it I just mess it up? If we are dating then it will ruin everything." I told him.
"Robyn, you think to much. Have you ever been in a serious relationship?" he asked.
"Yeah. Once." I said.
"Was it so bad you don't want to go there again?" He asked.
"No. Chase was a decent guy." I told him.
"So why not give it a shot?" He asked me.
"I don't know." I said, and he sighed.
"Robyn. I gotta go." He said, standing up.
"No, don't leave. I'm sorry, things have just been complicated for me." I told him.
"Things get complicated for everyone. Its nice to have someone to share the complicated stuff with." He told me.
"You're right." I told him. He smiled at me.
"Simon. Lets try." I told him.
"Try what?" He asked.
"Being a couple, I guess." I told him.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yeah, really." I told him. He hugged me.
"You're still kind of wet." I told him.
"Oh! Sorry." He said, laughing.

And that was how Simon and I got together. It felt good to have someone again. Someone I could really care about without causing any problems with anyone else. The next night we went over to Connie's friends house for a party. Simon drove me, and we walked up to the house holding hands.
"Does this mean what I think it means?" Connie yelled, running up to us.
"Yeah. It's what it means." I said, holding up Simons hand.
"That is so great!" She shouted.
"You dork." Trev said, and she stuck her tounge out at him. We all laughed and walked inside. There was a good amount of people there, and I didn't know anyone, so I stuck pretty close to Simon. I was introduced to I don't know how many people before I even had the chance to finish one beer! Simon had to use the bathroom, so I was left alone for a few minutes. I looked around for Trev or Connie, but I didn't see them. I walked to the living room where music was playing. I really liked it, and asked a guy standing next to it who it was.
"It's a local band here." He said.
"Oh really? Do they have a name?" I asked.
"Well, it's my band actualy. Do you like it?" He asked me.
"I do." I told him.
"Okay. We're called Blue Waters." He said.
"Nice name." I told him. We started talking about music and he was going on about how hard it is to break out of the local scene. I told him about The House of Blues back home, and he loved the idea of it.
"Have you ever thought about producing?" He asked. I laughed.
"Don't be silly." I told him.
"No, seriously. You seem to have a good head about music. You should think about something like that. Or opening a studio or something."
"Yeah. Maybe." I said, sarcasticly.
"Hey, just an idea. My name is Jonas by the way. I'll see you around." He said, when Simon walked up to me.
"Hey babe." He said, and kissed me.
"Hey. I missed you." I told him.
"You did? I was only gone for a few minutes." He said.
"I know." I told him, and he laughed, and kissed my cheek.
"I don't know anyone."
"I know. That is why you meet people." He told me.
"I met Jonas." I told him.
"That's it?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'm kind of shy." I told him.
"Well, do you want to get out of here? We can leave if you want." He said.
"No, it's okay." I told him.
"Honestly, this party is kind of lame. I wouldn't mind heading to the beach or something." He said.
"We can go then." I told him.
"Okay, lets go." He said, and took my hand. I put my drink down and we left in his car and drove to the beach. He took me to a really isolated section that had a few small caves and some large rocks in the sand. We walked for a while just holding hands. I started getting tired, so we sat down under a rock overhang a little farther up the beach.
"Are you having fun?" I asked him.
"Yeah. More fun with you then I was at the party." He said.
"Aw. Thanks. I'm having fun too." I told him. He put his arm around me, and started kissing me.
"This is romantic." I said, after a few minutes.
"And you are beautful." He told me. I just smiled, and looked out at the moons reflection over the water. Simon leaned over and kissed my neck.
"Here." I told him.
"Excuse me?" He asked.
"I'm ready." I told him. He looked confused, then his eyes got big when he realized what I was talking about.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yeah. Positive." I told him, and smiled. He smiled, and kissed me, then gently layed me down on my back.
