I opened my weary eyes to see Luke still sitting by my side. He was reading a book. I caughed, and he looked up at me. "Hey, you're awake." He said. "Yeah." I said. "How are you feeling?" He asked me. "I feel gross. How long have I been in here?" I asked him. "A little while." He said. He was trying to hide how worried he looked, but I could hear it in his voice. "Luke, how long have I been in here?" I asked again. "A week." he said. "What? A week!" I said, horrified. "Yeah. A whole week." He said. "Your mom and brother have stopped bye a few times, but you've been asleep. Simon stops by everyday too." He said. "What do you mean asleep? I don't remember anything." I told him. "Which is probably why we have had this conversation more then once." He said. "What's going on?" I asked him. "It's a little complicated." He said. "What is it?" I asked, suddenly extremly concerned. "I'll let the doctor tell you." He said, standing up. "Luke! I want to hear it from you." I told him. He took a breath. "Robyn you're- well you were, pregnant." He said. I gasped. "What do you mean?" I asked. "You were pregnant, but the doctors had to terminate your pregnancy." Luke said, tearing up. "Luke, that is impossible." I said, shaking my head. "No, it's not. You were a few months along...so it would happened right around everything with Charlie, Will, and Travis." He said, putting his hand over mine. "But look at me? Do I look pregnant?" I asked. "No. That was the problem. The doctor said your body was struggling to accept the pregnancy." He said. I felt a warm tear roll down my cheek. "I want it back." I said. "Robyn, they had to. It was that or you probably would have died...or the baby would have later and caused a lot of medical problems." He said. "Who said it was okay?" I asked. "You did. that was a few days ago." He said. "After they aborted the baby, you got really, really sick." He said. "That is why you are still here." He told me. "I wonder whose baby it was." I said. "Yours." He told me. "NO! Who the father was." I said, crying now. "It's okay." He said, scooting closer, and hugging me. "I would have been a good mom." I told him. "I know you would have been. You will be someday." He said. "Why not now?" I asked. "The doctor said it could have been a lot of things...stress, depression, lifestyle. It could have also just been your body saying it wasn't ready to support carrying a child." He said. "I want to leave. I don't like it here. I hate hospitals." I said. "I'm sure you can go home. You look more alert then you have the other times you have woken up. I'll call your mom and Simon to tell them you are awake." He said. "Is Caleb still here too?" I asked. "No, he flew home. He's going to fly back in a few days." He said, sitting up and looking at me. "I'm sorry." He said. "What?" I asked. "That this had to happen to you." He told me. I looked down at my hands and studied the IV's. I also had a something attached to my finger. "Do you want to be alone?" Luke asked me. "No. I don't ever want to be alone." I told him, and started crying again. There was a knock on my door, and it opened. "How are you doing?" A man asked, walking in. I just looked down at my hands. "You look alot better." He said. He walked over, and examined my eyes with a little light pen. "You are more alert too, it looks like." He said. I just looked at him. "You don't remember me do you?" He asked. I just shrugged. "I'm Doctor Swanson." He said. The name sounded vaguely familiar. He looked a little familiar too. "Do you remember what happened?" He asked me. I looked up at Luke. "He filled me in." I said. "Oh. Well let me see if I can help to explain things for you." He said, and told me what happened. It was exactly what Luke had said. When the doctor was done explaining, I felt a little better. I was still incredibly confused though. "I'm sure you'll be able to go home soon." Doctor Swanson said. "I'm going to have the nurses keep an eye on you today. If everything looks good, I'll send you home this evening." "Thank you." I told him, and he left. "See, you get to go home soon." Luke said, taking one of my hands in his. "I don't have a home." I told him. "Yes you do. You always have a home." He said. "That isn't my home." I told him. "It will always be your home. We'll always be your family." He said. I sighed. "Thanks, but I need to figure out where my new home is." I told him. "Understood." Luke said. My door opened and Simon walked in. He smiled when he saw me awake. My heartbeat sped up when I saw him. You could hear it on the monitor! I don't think Simon noticed, but Luke laughed. "Shut up." I mumbled to Luke. "You look alot better." Simon said, and walked over to me. He hugged me. "I'm going to go for a walk. See you two in a bit." Luke said, leaving the room. Simon sat down in Luke's chair. I felt a million times better with him there.
I did get to go home that night. The week after was all pretty fuzzy. My mom, brother, Luke, Caleb, Simon, and my new friends were with me the whole time. It was all a big blur. Not to mention, I had my old friends calling to check up on me. The strangest call was the one I got from Travis. Travis is a long story, but the gist of it is we cared a lot about each other, and tried dating. After Charlie though, I pushed all my old friends out of my life. Even Travis. It was strange hearing his voice again after so long. "Are you doing okay?" He asked me. "Yeah. I'm doing better now. It was hard when Luke first told me, but I'm doing okay." I told him. "Good. I was so worried about you. I wanted to fly out to see you, but with Luke and Caleb gone, I stayed back to look after The House with Abby." He said. "You wanted to fly out?" I asked him, not expecting to hear that. "Yeah. I still do." He said. "I miss you up here." It got quiet because I didn't know what to say. "I guess I should go. I just wanted to check up on you. Take care of yourself, okay." He said. "You too." I told him. "I'll try." He said, and hung up. My front door opened and Luke walked in. "Hey Morning Glory." He greeted. "Morning." I said. "Your mom and brother have officially been piled into a cab and are on their way to the airport." He said. "Okay, good. I'll miss them, but Madre can be a handful sometimes. I know she is worried, but I'm fine now for crying out loud!" I told Luke. "Yeah, I know. It's about time I head back to the airport myself. I miss Caleb, and he only left 2 days ago." Luke said. "Awww, how sweet." I said, sarcasticly. "Hey! Watch it. You can't talk. I heard the heart rate monitor when Simon walked in your room last week." He said, laughing. I had to smile at the thought. "Well, I guess that it has now been scientificaly proven that I like him." I said. Luke laughed. "Well, I should head out. I promised Caleb's sister I would say goodbye before I left." He said. "Okay. I'll see you later." I told him, and gave him a hug. "I miss you." He said. "I know you do. I miss you too." I told him. He kissed my cheek, and then left. I wiped the tears from my eyes, then grabbed my purse. I wanted to go for a walk. I stoped in the bathroom to make sure my make up wasn't smeared and noticed how much weight I had lost from being in the hospital. For the first time I noticed why my mother kept saying I was too thin and trying to feed me. I laughed when I thought of her. I noticed my hair too...I don't think I had ever had it so long before. I decided that I needed a change. I got in my car and drove to get my hair done instead of taking a walk on the beach.
When they girl was done cutting my hair she spun me around to look at it in the mirror. I almost didn't recognize myself! My hair was shorter then it ever had been. It was just above my shoulders, and somewhat shaggy in style. I loved it. As soon as I paid I sped over to Simon's place to show him. I aslo hadn't seen him for a day, and missed him.
