"WHAT THE HELL!" I heard someone shout. Omar jumped up and had more fear in his faceial expression than anyone I had ever seen before. I started laughing hysterically. "Gussy!" He yelled with an angry look on his face. "Fuck!"
Rose walked up to us and sat down on the bed. She sighed. "I suppose you are both old enough to make your own decisions and I will have to respect them, because I respect you both." She said. "Just caught me off guard. . ."
"Rose, don't ever barge into my room and start yelling when I am asleep." He said.
She just rolled her eyes. "Caleb called me early this morning." She said.
"Oh." I said smiling.
"He's on his way here." She said, then looked away.
"Really?" I asked.
She nodded. "You know Luke's in love with you." She said. She turned to me. "Are you in love with him?"
I shook my head no. "What's goin on?"
"They're taking time apart and now I'm stuck with Cal." She said. She sounded frustrated. "I don't like him when he's down."
"You're better at chearing people up than anyone I know." Omar said to her.
"Why are they taking time apart?" I asked.
"He can't get over the fact that Luke feels this. . . very strong connection with you." She said.
"This is so silly." I said.
"Is it?" She asked rudly. "I'd appreciate if you didn't come around for two weeks or so."
"Rose!" I said.
"I don't want your scent in the house while he is here." She said.
"This is my place too and I say it's okay for her to be here." Omar said.
"I'm going to go." I said standing up.
"I think that's a good idea." She said.
"How am I the bad guy here?" I asked.
"You're not." Omar said.
"Yes she is!" She shouted.
"What?" I asked.
"You love him too!" She said. "YOU are MY cousins BOYFRIENDS SOULMATE!"
"Oh fuck soulmates." Omar said.
Rose turned to him with a very scary look on her face. She looked as if she was ready to kill someone.
"Take it back." She told him.
"No." He said.
"Why does that make you angry with me?" I asked softly.
"That is one of the things I hate most in this world." She said. I noticed a tear drip down her face. "People meet their soulmates. They both feel the connection." She stood up. "But they don't do anything about it."
"Rose, it's complicated." I said.
"It's the opposite of complicted." She said. "Soulmates belong together. I havn't even met mine yet. You are so lucky. What's stopping you?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Caleb would be okay, you know?" She said.
I nodded.
"He feels the passion too. He knows." She said.
"I really like Simon." I said.
"But, Simon is not the one for you." She said.
I looked at Omar and he smiled. "I gotta go." I said starting to get upset.
"Don't run from it anymore." She said.
I started crying. "Let me drive you." Omar said. He got up and put his arm around me. We walked to his car and pulled away. Neither of us said a word until we got to my place. "Call me if you need to talk or somethin." He said.
"Thanks." I said.
He smiled. "Still friends right?"
"Yeah. Of course." I said. "Call me tomorrow, okay?"
"Will do." He said.
I got out of the car and walked up to my apartment. I plopped myself onto the futon. All I could do was cry. I dialed Omar and asked him to come back. I didn't want to bring down Simon or confuse him anymore than I had already. I needed to talk to someone and figure myself out first. I thought of calling my Mom, but she would just start discussing Will with me and telling me to come be with him. I also thought of calling Parker and meeting up with him, but I was afraid he wouldn't know what to say to me.
Omar said he would be back over in a half hour. I just sat there and waited.
